Best Frequency for Ultrasonic Cavitation

Best Frequency for Ultrasonic Cavitation

If you are planning to invest in a new ultrasonic cavitation machine for your spa business or for your own personal use, you are likely considering many factors, including price, ease of use, style, etc., as well as ultrasonic frequency.  Most importantly, you want to find a cavitation machine that will deliver the best results.   So what frequency will remove fat most effectively?

Broadly speaking, there are three frequency categories of on the market - 30K, 40K and 80K.  In this blog we look at the benefits of each, so you can more easily select the cavitation machine that is best for you.

What is the Best Frequency for Ultrasonic Cavitation?

Overall, the best frequency for ultrasonic cavitation is between 30KHz and 40KHz.  Ultrasonic cavitation reduces fat on the human body by vibrating and destroying the fat cells.  30KHz - 40KHz is ideal frequency range to achieve this effect because (1) the wavelength is long enough to penetrate deeply into the fat layers and (2) there is sufficiently high energy to disrupt the fat cell membranes.

While 30KHz-40KHz is the ideal ultrasonic frequency for fat reduction, higher frequencies of cavitation such as 80KHz also have benefits, which we also discuss below.

Benefits of Ultrasonic Cavitation

Ultrasonic cavitation is a very effective body contouring treatment because it has the power to remove stubborn fat that is resistant to exercise and diet.  Ultrasonic cavitation treatment is completely non-invasive with no downtime nor side-effects.  Editorial contributors shared with WebMD that “Ultrasonic cavitation is a safe FDA approved procedure.”

A significant benefit of ultrasonic cavitation is that the fat reduction is permanent.  Cavitation actually destroys fats cells, which are then removed by the body via the lymphatic system.  Therefore, the total number of fat cells in the body becomes less than there was before the treatment.

How Ultrasonic Cavitation Works to Remove Fat and Cellulite

The way a cavitation machine reduces fat and cellulite on the body is simple.  The cavitation handle sends ultrasound waves (frequency 30KHz, 40Hz, 80KHz, etc., depending on the machine) through the skin, into the fat layer, causing the cavitation process to take place.

These ultrasound waves form bubbles around fat cells in the fat layer.  Force causes the bubbles to burst, destroying the fat cells, which are subsequently drained out in the interstitial and the lymphatic systems.

So we can see from the way the cavitation process takes place, that to be effective (1) the ultrasound waves must be able to penetrate the fat layer and (2) there must be sufficient force to destroy the fat cells.  30K-40K is ideal because it achieves both of these criteria on most human body types.

Low Frequency Ultrasound Can Penetrate Deeper into the Fat Layer than High Frequency

Logically, the longer the wavelength, the deeper the penetration into the fat layer.  Frequency and wavelength have an inverse relationship.  So it should be obvious that 80KHz ultrasound with its shorter wavelength doesn’t penetrate as deeply.

For thin layers of fat on the body, 80K is very effective.  But for thicker fat, we need longer wavelength.

Benefits of 30KHz and 40KHz  Cavitation

30KHz and 40KHz cavitation machines have a longer wavelength, which is ideal for penetrating and removing thick layers of fat.

If you or your client is struggling to remove very thick stubborn fat that won’t budge no matter what diet and exercise plan you try, then using a 30KHz cavitation machine is most effective.   Keep in mind that while 30KHz is most effective for treating very thick layers of fat, it may take many treatments to reach the desired treatment goal.

If your goal is to most effectively treat medium-thick fat on a wide variety of customers, then we recommend choosing a 40KHz cavitation machine with a high power cavitation handle such as on our 6 in 1 Cavitation for Fat Blasting.   Interestingly, it should be noted that most 40KHz cavitation machines actually operate at a frequency between 35KHz and 40KHz, and this number varies depending on the machine.  Just because it says “40K cavitation” doesn’t mean it’s exactly 40KHz.

Well built 40KHz cavitation machines are most effective for treating a wide group of customers and body types.

Benefits of 80KHz Cavitation

While 30KHz and 40KHz are generally the most effective overall for fat reduction, higher frequency cavitation, such as 80KHz, also has its benefits.

If your goal is to reduce fat and cellulite on thin layers of fat, (people with less fat or areas of the body with less fat ), then 80KHz is ideal because this shorter wavelength can easily penetrate the thin fat layer and forcefully destroy the fat cells, fast.

On thin layers of fat, you’ll also see fast results with 80KHz, because the energy and force is significant for shorter distance.  80KHz has the additional advantage of being more comfortable because the sound is quieter and the handle will get very warm.
